My name is Daniel Leussler (pronounced Less-ler). I currently work in the IT department of Jefferson High School in Bloomington MN, where I maintain 5 computer labs and assist students and teachers. We’re an all Mac district, so naturally I try to keep up on Apple developments. At home however, I use Windows exclusively, which puts me in the sometimes frustrating position of constantly complaining about the faults inherent in each operating system.

This is my day job, however it’s not my only job; I also have an AAS in recording and engineering from McNally-Smith (formerly Musictech), and I often do freelance audio consulting and live engineering as well as run my own studio located in St. Paul. In addition to recording music I also play it, usually on the bass although I have some capability with a variety of instruments including: saxophone, piano, pennywhistle, drums, and trumpet. I don’t play guitar, unless you count playing basslines on the bottom strings. I was the bass player for local rock/hip-hop band The Blend for about 5 years, as well as performing often with a number of folk and bluegrass groups. Recently I’ve started performing with the traditional folk group Danebodium at the Tapestry Folk Dance center, and I’m embroiled in a project to develop a live performance aspect for my studio partner’s musical endeavor, Orchard of Comradery.

Eventually I’ll have a website up for the studio I co-own, but for now here’s the relevant info: Located just off University Ave. in St. Paul inside of the iconic Atomic Dry Ice building, my studio is centered around an entirely digital environment with the focal point being a custom-built audio computer running Cubase 3 SX and communicating with the analog world via a MOTU 24i/o (24 channels of 24bit 96khz in and out). A full gear list and some pictures will be at the website when it’s up, but for now the key information is that if you liked the sound of some of my previous albums with The Blend (which I produced and engineered), then you’ll like my studio.

I currently live in the Highland Park neighborhood of Saint Paul with my girlfriend of 8 years, Kiell Kosberg.
